Matthias shows a very intuitive use of negative space and repetition in his pictures. They remind me of the strength that can be achieved through simplicity. There is a balance of hard and soft there, brought about by a lovely compilation of line, shape and colour. I feel drawn into the mood of his pictures, whether its foggy and haunting or bright and colourful, they feel transporting and sincere. They represent the best kind of solitude.
