ADAM AND DAN
Ceramic artists Adam and Dan are husbands who make playful pottery from their studio and home in Brighton. Their love for clay creations sees them produce individual and collaborative work that spans the entire spectrum of pottery approaches. Their shared format of home pottery has seen them play with shape and scale whether that’s on TV programmes like The Great Pottery Throw Down, installations with Kew Gardens or exhibiting at the Royal Academy of Art.
Influenced by 90's nostalgia and queer history and stories, Dan’s style celebrates handmade with the paper-like style artwork clearly made from clay celebrating the medium. Playing with how in porcelain, these messages last forever into the future as artefacts of a past time.
Adam’s exploratory style of ceramics is inspired by nature and myths. Hand pinched shapes come to life with layers of glaze decoration - or confidently leaving the clay bare to enjoy its natural tone. Author of books on pottery, Adam likes to create things that have not existed before or that are a new way of working.
