OTHER INFORMATION
In 1988 Sir Ian McKellen revealed that while lobbying against Section 28 he visited the Conservative MP Michael Howard. Howard refused to change his position but asked McKellen to leave an autograph for his children. He agreed, but wrote "Fuck off, I'm gay."
Inspired by this and my Ian McKellen gay note piece from Instagram, these are porcelain reproductions with underglaze pencil decoration. I’m so happy with how these have come out and have worked hard to make each one striking and well finished. The high quality smooth white clay is fired twice up to 1,260 degree which makes the glaze look so vibrant with the papery wobble and lines baked into the piece.
Each has a hook on the back so it can be hung up to display or leaned on surfaces.
